So it is officially my first hospitalization post transplant. One of the lovenox shots caused me to get an infection. Its called cellulitis. I should have went back because I noticed how red it was right after my appt with my doctor on Tuesday. It hurt really bad so I went to my local oncologists office. I have to be on IV antibiotics. My transplant doctor said I should be good to go home in 48 hours. I am not that worried because it doesn't seem to be too too bad.
Not much to report about. Three sticks to get my blood. Everything's all good. I get to stop lovenox shots which is Awesome because I have a huge ball in my stomach that hurts bad. So hopefully within a couple of months my stomach won't be Bally anymore. Looking forward to warmer weather. I need to start walking. I went to the clinic today. There was a bad accident so we sat in traffic for hours. It was annoying because I always have to pee from the coffee I drink on the way there. They got my vein first try! And then I waited to see the nurse for hours because I was late. My blood work looked good but she wanted to do cultures because I had a fever last week. She forgot to ask the doctor when I could get off the lovenox. I hate giving myself shots. My body is bruised from the months of shots. I will see him next week though. Hopefully all is good on the cultures! I met a wife of another follicular lymphoma stem cell transplant patient. He is 18 months out and she said its working. So that is good news for all of us follicular lymphoma patients!! I also met a woman who said she has had chemotherapy every day for nine years! That's insane. On Tuesday when I went to the clinic I was starting to get sick. I had a cough but she told me I was clear. Over night my throat hurt really bad. I had a migraine too. I went to my PCP and she said I just had a cold and gave me antibiotics in case. I took them anyway but threw up a couple hours later. I slept all day and night. I layed in my bed all day and then realized I had a fever. I called my doctor and he said to take Tylenol and if it persists to go to the ER. He thinks I should be okay because I started antibiotics yesterday. I hope so. I went to the clinic again today. I am really getting sick of going but I have to. I am getting out of there quicker as the time goes by though. I am annoyed because I just started to get a cough and now I have a sore throat. She said my breathing was "clear as a bell" though. All of my blood work looks great. She said I can go to my daughter's soccer "games" and sit away from the crowd. I hope no one tries to talk to me. I don't want to have to whip out my mask and gloves. I didn't know I couldn't even go to the grocery store with mask and gloves on, not that I want to, I just can't do that.
She said I could wear tampons and contacts at 100 days so that is exciting. Still looking forward to my salad too. I also talked to her about beach attires. She said I don't need to wear a wetsuit just a long sleeve shirt so I am not directly in the sun. She showed me some ones at jcrew. I will have to look into it. I have been baking a lot because I have nothing better to do so I have packed on a couple pounds. Hopefully with the nicer weather I can bring my weight down a little. My hair is growing but it doesn't look as good as it did last time it grew back. It looks flat and boyish right now. I am going to have to find some cute hats. She also recommended neutrogena healthy defense for sunblock. I have been getting canker sores and she says its probably because of my white count. Hopefully they go away along with this stupid cold. Well I'm halfway to 100 which is great. Can't wait to get there. PS. It's a good day to be a HUSKY Tomorrow will be day 50! Halfway to 100. I forgot to write that on Tuesday I asked when I would get my period back. The nurse told me I may never get it back. Three days later aka today I got full blown period. I guess my body is strong ? I got my period while undergoing the most intense chemotherapy ever too. I also think I might have a little g v H d because I get the big D at least once a day. Only two sticks today. I asked the nurse if she was using the smallest needle, she said yes but then used a smaller one the second time? Interesting. Anyways, my blood counts were fine. White dropped a little. Magnesium went up a little but was still low. I am almost halfway to 100 days so that is exciting. |
